But the geology is

desert always exerts a

Surrealistic rocks, exotic cacti,
and colorful landscapes
like nowhere else await
you or your group.
We
visit one of our area's
largest sets of
prehistoric ruins --
in this case, the great
platform mound at
Pueblo Grande. These wall were built more than 600 years ago when our valley was
the fertile heartland of
the Hohokam people. Like the mythical bird of old, modern day Phoenix rose from the
"ashes" of another
civilization!
Besides some great
outdoor photo
opportunities throughout
the Valley, we visit the
Pueblo Grande Museum
and Gift Shop,
downtown Phoenix,
Old Town Scottsdale,
and the Deer Valley
Rock Art Center.
We also include several
rest stops at various
points along the way.

Wear comfortable shoes (you might want to get out and walk a bit),
and bring a coat in the
winter months. It
can get cold and breezy
in the desert -- some of
the places we visit are
more than 1000 feet
(~300m) higher than
central Phoenix!
