Lookout Mountain (2054 ft elevation, 626m) rises out of
residential north Phoenix in this northeasterly looking view from North Mountain.
Part of the Preserve, it has numerous
hiking trails and great views from the summit. You can look back from its summit to
where this picture was taken, for the reverse view.
It is mapped by the State as volcanic rock, its composition
close to in nature. Near the base of this
mountain lies one of the most amazing rock gardens I have ever
seen.
Directly behind it and faintly visible, Black Mountain
looms in the distance, its top almost touching the skyline. Next View >>
