made of the age (approximately 30 million years
old) Camel's Head Formation.
A / , it makes up some of the Valley's
more colorful rock formations, including those at Papago Park,
and here forms the entire west end of Camelback Mountain.
It sits on top of (~1.7 billion year old) ,
which forms the slope below the cliffs. The contact between the two formations
represents more than a billion years of missing history.
