Lookout Mountain is a great place to see the northern part of Phoenix. This view looks north up 16th Street, towards the
Union Hills
. Lookout Mountain is a mass of
Tertiary
age volcanic rocks, close to
basalt
in composition. The Union Hills are mostly
Precambrian
schist
--
metamorphosed
sedimentary
rock.
