It's hard to tell
what you are looking at here, no? Well, it is a lake, or
pool I should say, of some pretty wicked-looking water. I
wouldn't recommend drinking any of it. But I thought it
was colorful, so here it is to see. That is somewhat of a
road you see wrapping across the top of the image.
This scene is at the bottom of an old open pit copper mine
in Jerome, Arizona. This copper deposit is different from
all of the other copper lodes in Arizona -- both in age and in
genesis.
See the GeoHistory page if you want to know
more about why the landscape looks the way it does, or return
to the map of "Sedona and the Verde Valley" for more view locations.
You can also send this as an E-Postcard
to your friends!
