Mr. Gus Brethauer at his home and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Rock Garden and Museum, in Phoenix, Arizona.
   Meeting him and spending time listening to his stories has been one of the most enjoyable parts of putting together this part of GemLand's website.  I've received far more from it than I bargained for.  I can't quite "put my finger" on why, yet, but this experience has added significantly to my pursuit of the connections and interplay between humans and rocks.  And they are there -- this place is proof of that!
 
   Gus passed away recently, and he was one of those characters in my life who I will never forget. 
I didn't know him well, but whenever I visited him, the impression he left me with was that of a man who indeed knew his passion in life.
