This is what the age in Papago Park look like when
viewed at close range. Angular chunks of are visible through the reddish
matrix, and indicate that this rock was formed quickly by a debris flow.
This rock and those on the west end of Camelback Mountain
have the same origin, and were flat-lying after being deposited. Later tilting has
moved them into their present configurations.
The make-up of this rock formation can be viewed easily just by looking out
the car window when driving along McDowell Road through the Papago
