Some of the rock that gives Black Mountain its
name seems likeable to these Teddybear Cholla (Opuntia bigelovii). On this,
the western half of the mountain, the dark stone is a variety of
rock. It breaks apart into platy, somewhat flat fragments, and is called ,
a term by which geologists refer to this texture.
